The Fitbit Versa 3, The perfect tech for anyone wanting to get in shape?
Fitbit has a long history of ups and downs when it comes to their products, however, I would say that the Versa 3 is one of their best watches yet.
--------------------------------------------------------------
How well it works as a smartwatch
The Versa series is one of Fitbit's lines of smartwatches as well as the Fitbit Sense. The rest of the Fitbit line-up consists of their trackers such as the Charge, the Luxe, the Ace and the Inspire (All of which are linked below if you wish to check them out). The Fitbit library of Smartwatches is a great investment for those of you looking to get in shape. While they don't have as much functionality as some other watches such as the Apple Watch, they are still a great investment for those of you who want to either save some money as they typically cost less than an apple watch and for those of you like myself who use Android phones as Apple Watches aren't fully compatible with Android phones. Luckily the Fitbit Watches both Smartwatches and Trackers are fully compatible with both iPhone and Android. Throughout the day the watch will tell you how many steps you've taken, how far you have walked, how many calories you burned, your total zone minutes (Minutes where your heart rate is over 125BPM (Beats per minute) and how many flights of stairs you walked up. On the Fitbit app for your phone, you can also log your calorie intake and at the end of each day, you can see how many calories you burned vs how many you ate. The Versa 3 is fast and has plenty of features which I will get to in the next paragraph.
Applications
The Versa 3 also has a wide lineup of great applications not just consisting of your timers and alarms but also the weather app that allows you to see the weather at a glance, the exercise app where you can select any of the 21 exercises such as Walking/Running, Weight lifting, Yoga, etc. and have the watch keep track of the calories you burned, your average and maximum heart rate, how many zone minutes you had (Minutes where your heart was over 125bpm (Beats per minute)), how long you worked out, and in exercises like walking the GPS function will even tell you how many kilometres or miles you walked as well as showing you on a GPS view where you went on the Fitbit app for your phone. If you're bored and want a quick game to play fir Versa 3 has plenty to choose from, from 2048 to Tamafit which is Tamagotchi for your Fitbit. if you don't know what workout to do then why not download infinity fit, the app runs on your watch and tells you what workout to do all from the watch.
Water Resistance
Fitbit has always been a great idea. A watch with a built-in pedometer, calorie counter and heart rate monitor, however, there has always been a major issue for them. Their watches haven't been waterproof. I remember when my mom had the older models and she had to replace them at best buy every month because she would go out in the rain and it would fry. A co-worker also mentioned when she had one working at McDonald's it would get wet with oil or under the sink and fry. LUCKILY that is not an issue anymore as ALL modern Fitbits are waterproof and the Versa 3 is no exception. All modern Fitbit watches (Versa 1-3, Ace 2, Charge 3, Inspire and ionic) are waterproof for up to 50 meters (164 feet). The only issue you will have to deal with is taking the watch off to dry the sensor after getting out of the pool because water does stop the sensor from registering your heart rate. This issue is only while it is wet however and the sensor will work well as new after a quick dry with a towel or t-shirt.
Hardware
The Fitbit Versa 3 comes with 4GB of storage as well as built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. This allows you to use Google Home and Amazon Alexa with Wi-Fi, Connect to your phone, Headphones and speakers with Bluetooth and have it track where you are when going for a run. The 4GB of internal storage can be used to hold dozens of applications.
Customizability
The Versa 3 is great when it comes to customizability. There are literally hundreds of watch faces for you to download and implement. Some are analog, some digital. Some show how many steps you've taken, calories you've burned, etc. and some will only show 1 or 2 stats. Some have lots of colours, some are more basic. Some have a theme from a show, movie or game, others are professional. No matter what you feel like there is a watch face for you. On top of this, there are plenty of watch straps that you can get and snap onto your watch in under 10 seconds. Metal straps that look gold, silver or bronze. Silicone straps come in many colours. No point in just keeping it black or white. Want to stylize the screen itself, some cases can be bought that have a nice surrounding colour to add some flair to your watch. Any way you want your watch to look? Go ahead and make it happen!
Final thoughts
- Although not as powerful as other smartwatches on the market, it still gives plenty of functionality for the price. All in all, I give the Versa 3 a 4.5/5.
