If you are not sure what phones use what operating systems here's an easy way to remember. The IPhones are all running IOS (IPhone Operating System), Most modern smartphones other than Iphones use Android.

IOS

Pros

Speed - IOS as an operating system is definitely fast because it is a single task centred operating system for the most part, however, Apple is starting to allow more multitasking features mainly with applications like YouTube and Netflix being able to use "picture in picture" so you can watch movies and shows while working on whatever you are working on. On top of this, you can multitask by running two apps simultaneously with one on top and the other on the bottom.

Ecosystem
 - There is no doubting that the Apple Ecosystem is incredible. One minute you are on your phone, next you are working from your tablet before instantly sending your files to your mac to finish your work at home. IOS allows you to use tools such as Airdrop to be able to send photos, videos and other files between devices    instantly even without an internet connection.

Cons

Storage
 - The IOS operating system (and the IPhone in general) doesn't play nice with external storage, For the most part, how much storage you have initially is all you really get on the phone.

Slowdown
- Iphones will slow down over time rapidly as the OS limits your CPU usage. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to undo this slowdown.

Android

Pros

Multitasking
 - Android phones and tablets have had multitasking for years allowing you to watch YouTube while working on documents on google and keeping a web browser open to do research on the topic that you are writing about.

Storage
 - On android devices, you aren't limited by the amount of storage on the device (to an extent) as you can add a Micro SD card to add more storage for photos, music, movies and certain apps that allow you to store them on external storage.

Hardware Compatability
 - On Android, you can plug in an adapter to your phone or tablet to plug in a mouse, keyboard, flash drive, etc. and Android will pick up the device and allow you to use it.

Long Term Usage
 - Android devices don't die off as fast as IOS devices since Apple slows down "Old" devices to "Save Battery", Android doesn't do this meaning that your phone will last you much longer.

Cons

Slowdown
- Android is initially a fast operating system, however, due to the multitasking style of the Android OS after you install enough apps you will notice a slowdown as certain apps run in the background. The good news is if you notice your phone getting too slow you can uninstall unused apps and even factory reset your devices if that doesn't help. Personally, I still prefer Android as I would rather Uninstall apps over buying a new phone every year.

All in all, both are great choices, although, one may be better for one person over another.
