Whether you're running an iPhone-4 or your previous phone fell in the toilet, This is why the Samsung Galaxy A series is the perfect upgrade for anyone and everyone looking for a new phone.

Over the last few years, I went from an iPhone 6s Plus to a Samsung Galaxy A50 to a Samsung Galaxy A32 and I have no regrets about that decision.

How to look at the Samsung Galaxy A series naming scheme

- You may have noticed in the last paragraph I mentioned that I upgraded from the A50 to the A32. No that isn't a typo, let me explain. The way Samsung names the A-series phones is Series, Model, Generation. This means the A30, A50 and A70 are the same generation, the Same as the A32, A52 and A72. So going from the A50 to the A32 means upgrading from the 1st generation to the 3rd.

How does the hardware hold up?

- The Samsung Galaxy A series has a few different variations consisting of the A32, A52 and the A72. Here I will be going over the hardware of all models.

Samsung Galaxy A32

Storage - The Samsung Galaxy A32 comes with 64GB of onboard storage for all your favourite apps and games.

Expansions - On top of this, you can also add a micro sd card to add even more storage (it Takes SD cards of up to 1TB). Personally, I have a 64GB card on my phone and this saved me from filling my storage many times. It's also perfect for road trips as you can download Netflix movies to it to watch on the go.

Memory (RAM) - The phone also comes with 4GB of RAM (Random Access Memory) to allow you to not only run games such as Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty but also helps with the multitasking function of the phone, seamlessly allowing you to run many apps at once.

CPU (Central Processing Unit) - The multitasking functionality is also supported by the octa-core CPU that contains 2x2.0GHz cores and 6x1.8GHz cores.

Mobile Network, Wifi & Bluetooth - The phone also has a non 5G option as well as an option for 5G networking allowing the fastest loading possible when streaming or downloading off data. The A32 also supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz wifi and Bluetooth 5.0

Display - The display is 90hz allowing for smooth visuals and the option to drop it to 60hz to save power. With a screen resolution of 1600x720 and a size of 6.5 inches, you'll be able to watch any movie, play any game and uh... make calls in high definition.

Battery - The A32 contains a 5,000 MAh battery that lasts long enough for all-day usage.

Camera - The A32 just like the rest of the AX2 series comes with a quad-camera setup on the back and a front camera. the 5 cameras consist of

1. A 48MP wide lens
2. An 8MP ultra-wide lens

3. A 5MP macro lens

4. A 2MP depth lense

5. Front-facing camera

Biometrics - The A32 allows 2 forms of biometrics for not only unlocking the phone but apps as well. It uses both your fingerprint (Scanner located on the power button) and also allows you to use the facial ID function to unlock it.

Storage - The A52 comes with 128GB of internal storage giving (people like myself who are software hoarders) plenty of space to store apps, movies, photos and anything else you want to store on your device.

Expansions - Just like the A32 and A72 (And basically any other Android smartphone) the A52 allows you to upgrade the storage with a micro sd card of up to 1TB, Unlike the A32 however there are 2 SIM slots and not just 1 for those of you who need that second card.

Memory (RAM) - The A52 comes with the option of 4GB, 6GB or 8GB of RAM (Random Access Memory) unlike the A32 which comes with 4. This allows you to have a little more freedom with your multitasking, This will also allow you to play games with a higher draw distance. Go ahead. play San Andreas with the max resolution, you earned it pal!

CPU (Central Processing Unit) - The A52 has a slightly faster processor than the A32. Both have 8 cores, however, where the A32 maxed out at 2x2GHz cores and 6x1.8GHz cores, the A52 has 2x2.3GHz cores and 6x1.8GHz cores. This allows slightly faster speeds when performing any task, especially more intense ones such as playing all 3 GTA games released for android at once... on a side note. maybe don't do that.

Mobile Network, Wifi & Bluetooth - The A52 has a non 5G option and a 5G mobile networking option, as well as 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi. This phone also supports Bluetooth 5.0

Display - The A52 has a crisp 6.5-inch display that runs at a resolution of 1080x2400. The display runs at a smooth 90Hz.

Battery - This is the only drawback when compared to the A32, The A50 has a 4,500MAh battery. This is surprising when considering the A32 comes with 5,000MAh. Not a major difference, Just surprising that they would go for that choice.

Storage - The A72 for the most part is the same as the A52 and the storage is no exception. The A72 comes with 128GB of internal storage. Try and fill it! I dare ya.
Expansions - The A72 allows you to not only expand your storage with a micro sd card (up to 1TB) but also allows you to use 2 sim cards at once.
Memory (RAM) - The A72 has a model with 6GB of ram and a model with 8GB of ram.
CPU (Central Processing Unit) - The CPU is virtually the same as the A52 containing 2x2.3GHz cores and 6x1.8GHz cores allowing for fast and reliable processing power for your phone. This phone has 8 cores? That's 2 more than my $2000 PC. Maybe these phone gamers are onto something. Hmmmmm.
Mobile Network, Wifi & Bluetooth - The A72 has a 5G model and a non 5G model, For wifi you get 2.4GHz and 5GHz. For Bluetooth, you get 5.0.
Display - The display of the A72 runs at 1080x2400 at 120Hz. The screen is also running at a massive (For something that's supposed to fit in your pocket) 6.7-inches.
Battery - The battery runs at 5000MAh allowing full day usage without having to worry about your cell dying.
Camera - The A32 just like the rest of the AX2 series comes with a quad-camera setup on the back and a front camera. the 5 cameras consist of

Software and OS

The Samsung Galaxy (The same as all Samsung smartphones) runs Android, this time around all 3 devices run Android 11. This means that the OS allows the user to add more storage through a micro sd card as stated in the hardware section but you can also multitask by running more apps than 1 at a time. The phones also come with Samsung free which is an app that allows you to watch news broadcasts and other forms of "TV" through a free "Live" service.

FINAL VERDICT

The Galaxy A series of smartphones are an amazing choice as they give you plenty of amazing features for a lower price than the S series of Samsung phones. All in all, if you're looking for a new cell phone the Samsung Galaxy A series is the perfect choice for you.
